Flight
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is roughly 30 minutes from Hoboken, give or take traffic. An Uber would be the most painless way to get to town from the airport but if you wish you take public transit, there are a few options! Option 1: Take the AirTrain to the NJ Transit Rail Station and get on a train to Secaucus Junction. From there, transfer to a Hoboken-bound train. Option 2: Take the AirTrain to NJ Transit/Amtrak to Newark Penn Station, then a PATH train (via Journal Square) to Hoboken. Option 3: Take the Newark Airport Express bus from Terminal B or C to Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC. Transfer to the NJ Transit #126 bus to Hoboken.
Travel Note
Walking/Ubers: Hoboken and the surrounding areas are extremely walkable, making it easy to get around once you’re here. Most places are just a 10–20 minute walk from one another — that’s why Hoboken is known as the “Mile Square City”! Take advantage of the walkability, soak in the Manhattan skyline views, and explore all the charming small businesses along the way. If walking isn’t your thing, Uber and Lyft are plentiful and easy — and often simpler than navigating traffic and parking. Ferry: Staying at The Sheraton? You’re in luck! The Lincoln Harbor Ferry Terminal is directly across from the parking lot. It’s just one stop to Hoboken’s 14th Street Ferry Terminal. On the way back, the ferry will make a quick stop in Manhattan before returning to Lincoln Harbor. For tickets and schedules, download the NJ Waterway app and select Midtown / W. 39th Street as your destination (it stops in Hoboken first!). Tickets are $10.25 each way Bus: If you’d like to use NJ Transit, from The Sheraton it’s a 7–10 minute walk to the 126 bus at Willow Ave & 19th St (in front of Hi-So Thai). The closest stops are Willow Ave & 15th St for Hudson Table and 14th St & Bloomfield or Washington St & 12th St for our apartment. The bus continues downtown via Washington Street to the PATH train. Tickets can be purchased on the NJ Transit app (Route 126, Zone 1, within New Jersey) — just remember to activate before boarding — or simply tap your credit card when you get on. Parking: Street parking in Hoboken can be a bit tricky! Metered parking is enforced daily from 9 AM to 9 PM, and parking is only allowed on non-residential sides of the street (white signs — green signs are residents only). We highly recommend Uber, Lyft, or public transit to skip the hassle, but if you do drive, there are plenty of nearby garages!
