Alise and Colin met in Costa Rica in the summer of 2017. They were both on a study abroad trip with the schools they were attending for undergrad, Alise at Clemson and Colin at Fort Lewis. GO TIGERS and SKO HAWKS! Colin’s fondest memory of the Costa Rican summer was embarking on a short trip to Tamarindo with fellow classmates. From walking the beach, shotgunning beers in hostel showers, sharing pizza with a local artist named Junior, to a paddle board ride using a “dry bag” that ended up soaking and breaking both of their phones…It was the first of many instances where Alise forgave Colin and strengthened their bond (or so we hope). Alise’s fondest summer memory was in a souvenir store at Monteverde Cloud Forest. She was looking for an animal keychain for her sister and found the cutest sloth but had forgotten her wallet. When she got on the bus, Colin turned around in his seat and gave her the sloth keychain, knowing she hadn’t been able to buy it herself. Naturally, she kept the keychain for herself (sorry, Marie). Years passed with sparse communication from Colin’s end and Alise doing the heavy lifting of keeping the friendship alive (IYKYK). In 2019, Alise graduated and moved to Utah, visiting Colin in Colorado for a few days. However, it wasn’t until almost a year later that they reignited the flame and started Facetiming for way too long. Once Colin booked the first of many flights to Utah, they decided to see where this adventure would lead. After two years of building a relationship long distance, galavanting during COVID, and capitalizing on $50 round-trip flights (shoutout Frontier), Colin took the leap and moved to Utah. In December 2023, Alise told Colin they were getting married in Fall 2025, after PA school – luckily, he agreed. Colin proposed June 15th, 2024, in front of her true love Bam Bam, finally ending his free trial (according to Oliver) and opting for a permanent subscription.
