We have decided to cancel our wedding party for this year. With all of the unknowns due to the pandemic, we want you to know your health and safety is our priority. We don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable or worried, so we will celebrate when we are all able to do so!
While Colin and Gina went to the same high school, they didn't talk to each other until 2013, thanks to an accidental run-in. Gina (luckily) miscounted her internship hours at WCTY where she was working for the summer, which led her to attend a number of events in a short period of time - including an event on August 8, 2013. Colin heard about the event on the radio and stopped by - where Gina proceeded to help the radio show host try to set Colin up with their daughter. While Colin wasn't interested in the daughter, he did take notice of Gina. The feelings were mutual, as Gina shortly after requested Colin on Facebook where they continued the conversation. The rest is history!
If there's one thing you need to know about Gina, it's that she loves Disney. Colin is also a child at heart so, for his 30th birthday, they decided to take a trip to Florida and be kids again! They visited Magic Kingdom where Gina could gaze in wonder up at Cinderella's castle (child at heart, remember?). As they made their way up Main Street towards the castle, Colin and Gina decided to get a photo together. Colin's parents - who were in on the plan - found the perfect spot with the castle in the background, where Colin got down on his knee. After much excitement (and a "yes," of course!) they then had to make their way to ride Space Mountain - it was the cherry on top of the moment!
We were so lucky to have been planning an elopement-type ceremony from the very beginning, because our plans were fortunately not impacted (much!) by coronavirus. We had to find an alternative location within the couple of months leading up to the ceremony due to closures around Asheville, and had to find a new Airbnb outside of the county as hotels were still closed. To throw in another potential complication - the week leading up to our ceremony, there was a tropical storm forming and heading towards North Carolina. So, we bought umbrellas (just in case), changed our Airbnb reservation, found a beautiful vineyard location that would allow us to have our ceremony, and made the trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The days leading up to the ceremony were cold and rainy - and left us wondering if our day would be a total washout. But when we woke up the morning of May 21st, the rain and fog cleared and we were left with a perfect, warm, partly cloudy day. With our parents and two dogs by our sides, we said "I do" just outside of Asheville at Longleaf Vineyard (and yes, with many references from The Office throughout).
