We met on October 11th, 2021 as Colin was exiting a church Halloween party and I was entering. I was with his 2nd cousin Kayla, they said hi to each other and Colin got my number and invited us to a movie that night. Kayla told me, "You two should get married and then we can be related." I sized Colin up in a split second, he was cute, seemed nice, went to BYU, and seemed smart and spiritual. I looked back at her and replied, "I'm down." Kayla couldn't go to the movie night but I thought Colin was cute so I went. It was a scary movie and Colin wasn't even in the basement where it was playing so I left 20 minutes later. Colin was upstairs because he also doesn't like scary movies. On my way out, we talked for a second, and I gave Colin (what he calls) the best hug of his life. He asked me out after that, the first date wasn't perfect. We both were further along in dating other people and didn't go out for a while. I said a prayer a few weeks later about who in my dating pool to prioritize. My answer was "text Colin," then at the stop light I looked over and who was in the car next to me... but Colin. I called him and we went to a party together. I noticed his ankle was hurt and I went and got him an ankle brace from Alpine that night. Colin was so impressed at my kindness for someone I wasn't really even dating. Things with both of the other people we had been dating happened to end the same exact week in December. We saw each other at a soccer game, Colin sat by me the whole time and asked me out again and it was all uphill from there. Our first kiss was on December 19th, and we talked on the phone every day of Christmas break. We both got each other gifts for Christmas that were tickets to shows in February, I told Colin if we weren't dating still he could take someone else. But Colin physically held on to his haha:) Sure enough, we made it to February to see the touring Broadway Anastasia and the Harry Potter 5 Symphony. We officially began dating on January 19th, 2022, and have been together ever since. We have traveled to New Mexico, Mexico, San Diego, Seattle, New York, Flordia, Maui, Las Vegas, and more. We have had a very easy happy relationship. Colin supported me in following my dreams and moving to Florida in June 2023. He filmed my audition videos to get me here and I couldn't have done this without him. Throughout this summer as Colin has worked at Boeing in Washington he flew to Flordia 6 times from June-August. He waited for the perfect moment and proposed with a book he wrote "The Princess and the Suitor, an unfinished tale." This was written on a typewriter with sketches of our Silhouettes in Charcoal Colin did himself. Colin built a Gazebo for the proposal and picked the perfect ring. We read the book on a bench and he typed on the typewriter "Will you marry me" and I typed "Yes." We added those pages to our storybook and are excited to add many more. - Ali and Colin
