The Back Bay Loop Trail provides an exciting opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to discover a magnificent regional trail experience at the Bay. The 10.5 mile trail winds around Upper Newport Bay, with scenic stops at places like Upper Castaways Park, the County of Orange’s Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center, the new Back Bay Science Center at Shellmaker Island, and Big Canyon.
The CAMP has something for everyone (except maybe parking) - shopping, health-conscious and eco-friendly local businesses, services, breweries and eateries. Some of our favorite spots include: Folks Pizza, AhbA, Green Cheek Brewing Co., Salty Bear, East Borough, and Tin Lizzie Saloon. Special mention: Booth by Bryant
Everyone loves a ferry! Since 1919, Balboa Island Ferry has provided continuous service for drivers and passengers in vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians between Balboa Island and Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California. Crossing is approximate 800 feet. Via bridges, an alternate route is possible; but the traveling distance increases up to six miles. Operates daily from 6:30 am - midnight.
Anyone seen Beaches? Rochelle Rochelle? Me either, but I have seen that Seinfeld episode! (S6 E24) Crystal Cove's storied past, involving washed up (stolen) building materials, hippie communes, and even Bette Midler, makes it one of the more unique (and historic!) places to visit in OC. If you're hungry while you're there, be sure to check out the Beachcomber and Shake Shack! The coastal portion of Crystal Cove State Park features a 2.5 mile paved trail that runs along the bluff tops, perfect for easy walks and bike riding. The inland portion of the park stretches from the wooded Moro Canyon, up to the spectacular coastal views of Moro Ridge. The park's backcountry consists of 2,400 undeveloped acres of land, and over 15 total miles of trails. Trails are open to hiking, biking, and equestrian use, with a variety of difficulties from quick and easy to long and strenuous.
