On the week of the Fourth of July Mason and Taylor connected on Bumble (an online dating platform). Taylor happened to be at Kampersville (a campground in Salisbury, VT) with her family which is why they connected, especially since she didn’t live in the same area as Mason at the time. At the time both Mason and Taylor had their settings set so that they would find someone local, because long distance relationships are difficult. Although, they managed to make it work with roughly 69 miles between them (roughly 2 hours). Once they started talking, they really hit it off the bat. Their first date was a few weeks after they started talking at the Vermont Tap House in Williston, now the building that Casa Grande is in (which they love). A week later Mason went down to Kampersville and met Taylor’s family, and July 31st, 2021 they began dating. They made long distance work, between navigating holidays with their families, and traveling each weekend to Springfield or Monkton when it wasn't summer time. The rest was history after that.
As they flew out to the Dominican Republic, Taylor had no idea they were getting engaged. She had joked around about it with her best friend Meghan, but she was only 50/50 on if it would actually happen. As the days passed by on a lovely family trip Mason was trying to convince Taylor to do the romantic dinner package. Taylor told Mason “no, we don’t need to do that. That’s proposal level.” Eventually, Mason convinced her to finally go to dinner, it didn’t take too much. They all got dressed up for family pictures beforehand, and then Mason and Taylor went to dinner on the pier as the sun started to set over the ocean. They then walked back across the pier, and Mason asked about what Taylor’s favorite part of the trip was. They reminisced about the last few days at the resort and their adventures. Then Mason said, “I can think of one thing that would make this trip even better”. He got down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?” Meanwhile, Mason’s amazing sister (Madi) and her boyfriend Matt were hiding on the beach to take pictures. What a perfect way to end the trip!
