Sam first knew Colette as the girl with wet hair that he'd see around the UNC Charlotte campus back in 2006. She had a penchant for wearing anime t-shirts and showering before morning classes, and a dislike of hair dryers. It wouldn't be until several years later that they would be introduced via Colette's sister, Amelia, and Sam's best friend, Kenny, who had met in a theater class. The two thought that their respective nerdy compatriots would get along with each other, and they were correct. A relationship based on mutual interest in card games, Pokemon, and Taco Bell was born. Colette and Sam dated for a while, and then went their separate ways for a few years. Eventually they ended up back in the same social circles, and the friendship was rekindled. (Still heavily based on card games and Pokemon, less on Taco Bell.) After many years of friendship and life changes, the two had the opportunity to give a relationship another try. Older and wiser, they found that a relationship came quite naturally to a pair of long-time friends.
