We met in college during my freshman year and Joe's junior year. To keep a long story short, we were introduced by a mutual friend one Saturday night and the rest is history. The funny part of this story is that Joe actually met my mom earlier that day at a McDaniel volleyball game. Joe and his friends painted their chests and came out to cheer on my team, and I couldn't help but notice the cute guy in the stands! My mom made a comment to him about the body paint and they chatted for a couple minutes. When I brought Joe home for the holidays that winter she remembered him right away!
In the fall of 2019 I was in my last semester of graduate school at Salisbury University and Joe had just begun his first year of emergency medicine residency in York, PA. Life was so busy, but we made plans for a beach camping trip to Assateague Island together one weekend in September. I was coaching volleyball for Salisbury at the time and Joe had met the team in Philadelphia that Saturday to cheer us on at our matches. I was not suspicious at all that this weekend would be the proposal! We left for the beach on Sunday morning and spent the whole day on the beach together. There was not a cloud in the sky that day! At the end of the night Joe made a beach fire for us and we made s'mores together right by the water. It had been an absolutely magical day and this was the perfect ending to it. I had no idea there was more to come... Joe told me to close my eyes and keep them closed. As I was waiting the song I Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley started playing. Joe pulled me up to dance with him. It was the perfect moment. At the end of the song, under the stars, Joe asked me to be his wife and I said YES!! It was the easiest decision I have ever made.
