The odds of marrying your 'high school sweetheart' are one in a million, but Colette and Adam have certainly defied those odds. During Freshman Orientation at Bergen County Technical Insitute in 2010, each new student was to walk across the stage and introduce themselves to their fellow students and parents. When it was Colette's turn to grace the stage, Adam’s eyes landed directly on her and he immediately knew he needed to meet her. Luckily for Adam, he was sat next to a friend of Colette’s and pressed them for her information. He wasted no time searching for her on Facebook and 'sliding into her DM's'. Instantly, Colette and Adam hit it off and couldn't wait to meet face-to-face on their first day of school. Throughout all of high school, college, and now their adult lives, the couple has been by each other's sides through every high and low, and over the next fifty years, their love will only continue to grow.
It was a humid, summer day when Colette and Adam took the hour-long journey to Greenwood Lake for a boating trip. To mark the joyous occasion, a handful of family and friends joined the couple aboard the boat in anticipation of the big moment... Colette assumed it would be a fun, but ordinary day. Little did Colette know that her life would change forever... As the sun began to set, Adam's plans for the picture-perfect proposal hit a snag. The boat had taken on water and had begun sinking! Docking the boat to shore, Adam swiftly was able solve the problem as suspense built for the big question... By 7:30 P.M., they once again set sail just in time to view the fireworks. As the pyrotechnics began to light the night sky, Colette looked out over Greenwood Lake. Behind her, Adam was quietly bending down on one knee, removing the ring from his pocket. While fireworks crackled and burst behind the couple, Colette turned to face her future fiance, immediately covering her mouth in shock. "Will you marry me," asked Adam. "YES!", nodded Colette, as he slipped the ring on her finger. And the rest was history...
