How We Met

His View

The main reason you go to college is to “find yourself”. When you are in your early twenties all that matters is finding your way through a new and confusing “ADULT world”. There are so many clichés in this world, from love at first sight to you will find love when you are not looking. To say this story is not a cliché would be a lie, but that’s something I’m more than okay with. What happened on a crisp Summer night at the “Ski Fence House” in Gunnison, Colorado would change my life forever. As the party began it started like any other small town college blowout, but as soon as I stepped outside for air, I was introduced to a beautiful redhead by a mutual friend. Upon seeing that smile for the first time I instantly knew that she was special. As time went on and more dates happened the story of how we became a couple is incredibly unique. As we spent more time together we started to learn everything we could about each other! The similarities that we shared brought us together, but the differences have always been something that has drawn us closer. Sam has shared his love of sports, movies, and photography with Coleen while she has shown him the art of skiing and her love of the outdoors.

How We Met

Her View

“I’m just going to spend this year focusing on me.” That was my motto going into my sophomore year of college. What I didn’t expect was to be introduced to Sam by a mutual friend only a couple of weeks after I made that decision. I was at a party with some friends when I got separated from them. Luckily, I was able to find another friend who then introduced me to Sam. After talking with Sam at that party for a little while, I realized I had met him before. The year before, we were both at a basketball game and hanging out with friends after when we started talking. Unfortunately, we only talked for a couple minutes about our music preferences and then went our separate ways. So after we were “reintroduced,” we started to talk more and found out we had a lot in common. I knew he was different because I told my mom right away to “stalk him on Facebook.” After a few dates, I accidently slipped and called Sam my boyfriend before we had talked about it. But he rolled with it and never batted an eye. We encourage each other to try new things, inspire one another’s passions and dreams, and push each other’s buttons.
