Do I need a Visa to travel to Portugal?

The ETIAS program has been delated to the end of 2026. We will continue to update this page if anything changes before the wedding date. The application, if required, would cost 7EUR and most applications will be processed within minutes and at the latest within 96 hours. However, some applicants may be asked to provide additional information or documentation or to participate in an interview with national authorities, which may take up to additional 30 days. Once approved, ETIAS is connected to your passport and is valid for 3 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Each individual flying must submit their own application to receive their own ETIAS and a valid passport is required to submit an application.

Lisbon Airport (LIS) to Albufeira by Private Transfer

When planning your travel, please note that flying into Lisbon is often more affordable and has more direct flight options than flying into Faro.  If you choose to fly into Lisbon and don't want to take the train, a private car service is another excellent option. The scenic drive to Albufeira is approximately 2.5 hours, and the company I linked, Daytrip, gives you the option to add sightseeing stops along the way. While this is a pricier alternative, it can be a great choice for larger groups or for anyone who wants to turn their transfer into a personalized tour of Portugal!  PORTUGUESE: Ao planejar sua viagem, observe que voar para Lisboa costuma ser mais acessível e tem mais opções de voos diretos do que voar para Faro. Se você optar por voar para Lisboa e não quiser pegar o trem, um serviço de carro particular é outra excelente opção. A viagem panorâmica para Albufeira dura aproximadamente 2,5 horas, e a empresa que eu linkei, a Daytrip, oferece a opção de adicionar paradas turísticas ao longo do caminho. Embora esta seja uma alternativa mais cara, pode ser uma ótima escolha para grupos maiores ou para quem quer transformar a viagem em um tour personalizado por Portugal!

Faro Airport

Faro Airport is about 30 minutes from Albufeira where we will be having our wedding and weekend events. You book a flight directly into Faro Airport from your city of choice. This airport is known for having long security and customs checkpoints so please plan to arrive 3 hours before your flight if you choose to depart from this airport.           PORTUGUESE: O Aeroporto de Faro fica a cerca de 30 minutos de Albufeira, onde teremos nosso casamento e os eventos do fim de semana. Você pode reservar um voo direto para o Aeroporto de Faro saindo da sua cidade. Este aeroporto é conhecido por ter longas filas na segurança e na alfândega. Por isso, caso você opte por sair de lá, planeje chegar com 3 horas de antecedência ao seu voo.

Train

Lisbon Oriente to Faro Station

Depart Oriente Station in Lisbon to Faro Station and the trip is about 3.5 hours. From Faro Airport, transfer to your hotel or Airbnb of choice by taxi, Uber, or private transfer. Train tickets can be purchased here: https://www.omio.com & one-way tickets are about 25 Euros per person.  This is the most cost effective and will prevent you from dealing with long security lines at Faro Airport. PORTUGUESE: Partindo da Estação do Oriente, em Lisboa, a viagem de trem para a Estação de Faro dura cerca de 3,5 horas. Da Estação de Faro, você pode ir para seu hotel ou Airbnb de preferência usando táxi, Uber ou transfer privado. As passagens de trem podem ser compradas aqui: https://www.omio.com. As passagens só de ida custam cerca de 25 euros por pessoa. Essa é a opção mais econômica e te poupa de ter que lidar com as longas filas de segurança no aeroporto.

The Albufeira Marina is about a 20-minute walk from here and downtown just shortly past the Marina. Shuttles to the venue will depart from this hotel. We’ve secured 10% off the hotel rate. PORTUGUESE: Este lindo hotel está localizado em uma área mais tranquila da cidade, perto de onde a maioria dos nossos eventos acontecerá. O Kimpton Atlântico Algarve fica a 5 minutos a pé da praia e a cerca de 5 minutos a pé de onde os noivos estarão hospedados. A Marina de Albufeira fica a aproximadamente 20 minutos a pé daqui, e o centro da cidade é logo depois da Marina. Os ônibus para o local do evento partirão deste hotel.

This is another hotel near where we'll be staying and also near the other hotel recommended. For those staying with a larger group or family, these rooms can hold up to 5-6 people in their 3-bedroom option. There are various options including the Ocean Villa which has 1-2 bedrooms and a private pool, Apartments with 1-2 bedrooms, Palm Villas with 2-stories and 3 bedrooms, and Guesthouses for 2 guests. This hotel gives you the freedom to utilize a kitchen during your stay without the hassle of an Airbnb.   PORTUGUESE: Este é outro hotel perto de onde ficaremos e também perto do outro hotel recomendado. Para quem viaja com um grupo maior ou família, os quartos na opção de 3 quartos podem acomodar até 5-6 pessoas.
