Cole and I both attended Burlington High School. He was there 2010-2014 and I was there 2012-2016. Funny story, Cole had actually tried talking to me when I was still a Junior and he had since graduated. He still to this day jokes about how I “rejected” him. But, here we are today, it was meant to be! For our first “date” he talked me into playing in a softball game. Don’t worry, I’m pretty sure he was a gentleman and took me to dinner after the game. Ha!
We went to dinner at Spot on the Dock on the Burlington waterfront. It was a beautiful night, and restaurants were just starting to open back up again because of COVID. Cole invited some of our close friends and posed it as a celebratory graduation dinner. Props to him because I had absolutely no idea! After dinner, our friend Jess wanted to walk over to the boardwalk and take sunset pictures. Jess, Rachel and I were taking a picture the three of us with our backs to the camera and when I turned back around Cole was down on one knee asking me to spend the rest of our lives together. Of course I said YES! And all of the Burlington sunset-watchers at the waterfront that night even clapped for us!
As many of you know, Cole and I are actually already married! On August 1, 2020 we got married in his parent’s backyard with a very small group of close friends and family. It was a perfect night! We wanted to be able to do this because as most of you also know, Cole had been deployed overseas to the Middle East for the last year. Though this backyard wedding was small and we were not able to include everyone, we are very excited to be able to celebrate on a larger scale with more of our friends and family!
