We first met on Tinder on 1.19.16 where we talked about “Christmas in a Cup” (aka Peppermint White Mocha from Starbucks). It took us awhile to plan our first date, but it finally happened and we went to see “Fifty Shades of Black” (Spoof of Fifty Shades of Gray). However, I didn’t realize that probably wasn’t the best movie choice for a first date. I also hinted at a first kiss when I referenced “Hitch” and how a girl will play with her keys to hint that she’s waiting for a kiss. So, of course I played with my keys and hoped he would pick up on that subtle hint. And the rest is history.
We started off with a private horseback ride at the Hawaii Polo Club. He wanted to propose on the ride, but we were never close enough or in a good location to stop and do it. Then, he suggested getting some açaí bowls in Haleiwa to eat on the beach and he could propose then. However, the mood wasn’t quite right. So, as we were walking to the front door of the house, he said, “There’s one more surprise, close your eyes.” I closed my eyes, then he said to open them. When I looked, he was down on one knee with the ring in his hand and asked, “Will you marry me?” I couldn’t believe my eyes and I asked, “Really?!” Because I couldn’t believe it was happening, I asked him several times, “Really?!” Then, he asked is that a yes and of course I said “Yes!” Later, I found out he had the ring in his pocket the whole day and I asked him, “What if it fell out on the horseback ride?” He said he kept checking his pocket to make sure it was there. He was trying to find the perfect moment to ask all day and he finally did!
