Margaret and Cole first met in college, but it wasn’t until the spring of 2019, living post-grad in Boston, that they reconnected. Cole first tried to win Margaret over by inviting her to watch Bruins playoffs games, but as a Maple Leafs fan, it’s probably for the best that she was too busy studying (story of her life). However, Cole kept at it, and agreed to meet Margaret for a 5:30am (not a typo) Flywheel spin class. At the end of the class, Margaret rewarded Cole’s early wake-up with a quick rush out of the studio to get to class, and a brief high-five. Luckily, it only took four or five more 5:30am Flywheel classes for Margaret to catch on, and agree to go on a dinner date with Cole. In March 2020, less than a year after their first date, COVID struck, and Margaret made the bold leap to come live in Wellfleet, Cape Cod with Cole and his entire family for 111 days straight! Their relationship came together over hearty dinner debates, beach walks, and skiff rides. In May 2023, Cole asked Margaret to help him launch his skiff for the summer season. Cole and Margaret set out for a remote beach in Wellfleet Harbor with their puppy Piper. As a small annual holiday in Cole’s calendar, Margaret expected some amount of excitement about the boat launch, but after they reached the beach and Cole wouldn’t stop nervously talking, she finally asked, “why are you being so weird?” With that natural segue, Cole asked her to marry him, and Margaret said yes! After celebrating their engagement in such a special place with their parents, they are so excited to celebrate with all of you in Toronto!
