Cole and Lydia met their freshman year of college at Indiana Wesleyan University through mutual friends. Cole asked Lydia out to dinner with flowers, chocolate, and a Speedway cherry slushy. They quickly developed strong feelings for each other; however, both were hesitant about dating at first. Cole came to college not viewing dating as a priority. He said he would only pursue a relationship if she was "the one." Though Lydia was excited, she was guarded, not wanting to let anyone in. Never believing she would be able to fully trust someone. But, slowly things changed. Through hours of getting to know each other, it became clear that something special was unfolding. Fast forward to the summer after freshman year, they spent three months apart as they did full time ministry. Lydia in Alaska and Cole traveling the country. They learned that distance truly makes the heart grow fonder. After that summer, they realized they didn't want to spend the rest of their lives with anyone else. After many hours of prayer and seeking wisdom from mentors and their parents, they decided it was time to take the next step. In May 2024, Cole sneakingly took Lydia's mom out to dinner to ask for her hand in marriage. He did this while Lydia was on a trip to Zambia to ensure she had no idea. Then, on May 25, 2024 Cole nervously got down on one knee at Indiana Dunes National Park while they were hiking. Of course... she happily accepted! Through many trials, they found comfort in each other. Together, they have found a love that continually points them back to the One who brought them together. Their story is just beginning, and they can't wait to see where God leads them as they begin this new chapter as husband and wife.
