The couple first met in 7th grade in middle school. Over the year, the two of them became close friends and enjoyed spending time together in English class. 8th grade was a breeze with no direct contact due to having class in different parts of the building. High school came fast and the two freshmen were surprisingly reunited in algebra class and rekindled their previous friendship. Eventually the flirting, texting, and quality time led to the two sophomores calling themselves a pair in August 2016. Over the six years they have gone throughout life together, they have gotten the opportunity to grow with one another while learning so much about each other. Life would not be the same for one of them without the other.

On May 30th, 2022 the couple and their friends Gabi and Elliot got on a plane and headed to Orlando Florida for a little getaway from home. Little did Katy know that this trip would be centered around their engagement. Cole had talked with the friends prior and had them in on his plan to propose. They all stayed in a beautiful resort that was on a small lake in Orlando. The first day they settled in and relaxed by the pool and had some drinks from the tiki bar. The following day was the day Cole had been planning for. Gabi took Katy to get her nails done that day followed by some Starbucks which was nothing unusual for them. The plan for that night was to get dressed up, take couples pictures, and head to Disney Springs for a nice dinner. Katy, still unaware of what was about to happen got dressed up, and went with the others out to the dock on the lake for photos. Each couple took some photos and then it was Gabi and Katy's turn to take some together looking at the lake. As the two were turned around facing the water, Cole got down on one knee with the ring in his hand ready to ask Katy to marry him. As she turned around she was shocked to see Cole kneeling there with a ring in his hand. He asked the question, and she of course replied with a yes followed by a large hug and cheering people who must have watched the whole proposal from the balconies of the resort. The four finished their night with a nice dinner followed by free champagne and dessert for the newly engaged couple.
