Cole and Jamie met in college in the most fitting way possible for two computer science majors: at a UT CS career brunch. Cole was a year ahead in school, but fate - disguised as a recruiting line - placed him directly behind Jamie when they both chose Apple as the first company they would talk to. Cole decided to spend his time in line trying to get to know the girl in front of him, 'networking,' he called it. Jamie didn't think much of it, and made small talk until it was her turn to talk to the recruiter. She figured she might see him around campus someday - if that. Cole, however, couldn’t get that blonde girl from the Apple line off his mind. Although he was late for his golf class and already walking out of the event, the thought "What if it turns out better than you can imagine?" wouldn’t stop running through his head. Cole knew that if he left without a way to contact Jamie, chances were he would never see her again, so with Matt Damon’s quote from We Bought a Zoo: "Sometimes, all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, of just embarrassing bravery, and I promise you something great will come of it.” playing through his head, he decided to see “what if” and went back to find her. During their second conversation, they discovered that Cole had actually been inside Jamie's apartment the year prior, but Jamie just happened to be out at the time. It turns out they had close mutual friends - Cole knew Jamie's roommate (and now Matron of Honor) Megan, and Jamie knew Cole's fraternity brother (and now Groomsman) Grant. They exchanged information, and went on their way, with Jamie yet again thinking this would probably be the last time she saw him. But once again fate had other plans. Cole reached out about an upcoming Chevron event they both signed up for and the conversation continued from there. Soon after, Cole invited Jamie to a barge that his fraternity was hosting. Jamie already had quite a few friends going (including both Megan and Grant) and figured it would be a fun day to hang out with everyone, if nothing else. The barge was a blast, and Jamie and Cole ended up talking all day, clicking instantly. In fact, after a long conversation between the two of them while floating in the lake as the sun set and everyone else was packing up to go, Jamie told Megan that she could see herself falling in love with Cole. Jamie and Cole talked the whole bus ride back and never slowed down. They ended that semester by going to three formals, Jamie cheered Cole on at his powerlifting competition, and they spent the weeks leading up to Christmas going to the Trail of Lights, ice skating, light shows, and any other Christmas event they could think of as an excuse to hang out. It seems as though Jamie had predicted the future, and the rest is history. After graduating college and starting real life, Cole couldn’t wait to propose to the love of his life. He decided to make the big day fall on the 3-year anniversary of the day they met at that career brunch, September 13th, 2025. The night before, Cole’s mom and brother helped transform the home he and Jamie would share into a candlelit trail of rose petals leading to a room filled with photos of their favorite memories. Cole kept her away until midnight so the big moment would be on the day it all began three years earlier. As Jamie was busy reading a card that Cole had planted on the side table, he made his way to the middle of the rose-petal heart and got down on one knee. He asked Jamie to marry him, and Jamie, through tears, gave him the 'yes' that made all of their dreams turn to reality. Jamie and Cole cannot wait to celebrate their big day surrounded by the people who have supported them along the way. Every moment, every friendship, and every twist of timing brought them to each other. They are so excited to begin the rest of their lives with all of you there.
