How We Met

March 2012 – Eager to start his career in trading, Cole had recently moved to Dallas, Texas to take on a new role as an underpaid and overworked analyst. With the moral, and thankfully, financial support of his family, he was determined to prove an Astros fan could thrive in Rangers territory. It was at this very moment, in the state of Iowa, Jess was also preparing to take a leap of faith. Having solidified herself as a Graphic Designer, she had made up her mind that her partiality to warm weather left her no option but to move to a state that offered an unusually long summer with an uncomfortably warm winter. Having narrowed down her search to Texas, she decided to give the Lone Star state a visit. With so much to see, Jess thought it best to contact her closest male confidant, Rob Lunn, hoping that his prior crusades in Texas might offer her good advice. Rob spoke wondrous praise for the Great State. His trips to the University of Texas Kappa Alpha House to visit Kenny had led to many great Texan friendships. Recalling that Cole now resided in Dallas, Rob insisted that Jess make his acquaintance during her short trip. April 2012 – The day finally arrived and Cole, eager to meet Jess, proposed a local spot in Uptown to meetup. After a brief introduction at the bar, the two fell deep into conversation. Cole spoke at length about the passion he shared for Texas; something his friends would tell you he does with unusual frequency. Either way, Jess was now convinced that this was to be her new home. As the evening drew to a close, at the encouragement of a beer or three, Cole took an emotional turn for the worse as he began speaking about the failing health of his beloved Labrador, Velvet. It was in these sweet and sensitive moments that Jess realized the excitement that was building up inside her wasn’t just for her new home, but for the guy sitting in front of her. He had it all: charm, good looks, and most important, a gentle heart for those he loved.
