Flight
Two options
1) If possible, we recommend flying to Liberia airport (LIR) as it is a short 45 minute drive from Playa Ocotal and the wedding venue. There are numerous car rental companies and shuttle options (a few to the right) to get to Playa Ocotal from Liberia airport. 2) Aeropuerto Juan Santa Maria. Alajuela, Costa Rica (SJO) is near the capital, San Jose, and about 4.5 hours from the wedding venue. There are many options for car rentals, shuttles, and even a bus to Playa del Coco via the PULMITAN bus station in San Jose.

Juan Carlos will provide shuttle service after the wedding from 10 pm to 2 am to ensure safe and easy transportation back to your hotel. Costa Rica Shuttle and Sibu Tours also offer private shuttles for 1 - 4 people from Liberia airport to Playa del Coco. Tropical Tours and Interbus Costa Rica offer shuttles from San Jose to Playa del Coco for approximately $54 per person.
Rental Car
Public bus from San Jose to Playa del Coco
If you fly into San Jose airport, you can take a taxi to the Pulmitan bus station which has buses that leave for Playa del Coco at 8am, 2pm and 4pm. The cost is approximately $9 - $10. Please note January is peak season and buses frequently fill up. Therefore, plan to get to the bus station early so you can avoid waiting for a bus at a later time. Although the cheapest option, we only recommend this route to those who are proficient in Spanish and with ample time to get to the coast.

Public bus from Liberia Airport to Playa del Coco
From what we found online, you can likely take a public bus that leaves every hour from Liberia airport to Liberia city, where you can then catch a bus to Playa del Coco. As this is somewhat out of the way and may be difficult to navigate without a proficient Spanish, we recommend using one of the shuttle options or taxis/UBER. When using UBER, please note you will need to activate your cellular service for use in Costa Rica.
