We have Matt Damon (and Trent, Marci, Nicaeli, Archie, Rachel, and Obie) to thank for this wedding! "Thanks Matt Damon" has become a sort of catch phrase for us whenever we are feeling particularly grateful for our story and reconnection. Here's why: Colby and Mallory both grew up in Brownsburg and were active at Connection Pointe. They ran in adjacent circles, but would probably have considered each other acquaintances rather than close friends. Fast forward to college - Mallory went to Butler in Indianapolis while Colby headed to Flagler in Saint Augustine. Neither one thinking about the other. Now Marci and Trent, true adventurers at heart, needed a dog sitter to watch their three beloved dogs (Rachel Breeze, Archie, and Obie) when they traveled. Luckily, Mallory was in town and looking for money! She dog sat when needed, and took advantage of Marci and Trent's generous offer to bring some friends to spend Senior Spring Break at their house in Florida. The same house Colby was living in! They all had a fantastic time, but Colby and Mallory went their separate ways, again each not thinking about the other. Then came summer of 2021. Mallory was starting her rotations for pharmacy school. Colby was running the brand new Speedway Indoor Karting in Daytona Beach. The Theobald family was down in Florida for the summer, including the dogs! Well, as summer should, trips took form. Nicaeli and Marci were headed to Spain for a graduation trip. And Trent was headed to Europe for a press tour for - you guessed it - Matt Damon! That left the dogs at home in Florida with Colby. Except Colby was pulling 70-80 hour work weeks with SIK, and was concerned he wouldn't be able to care for the dogs. That's when Mallory was tapped in (to her delight). Luckily, she was on break from her rotations, so had the time to spare and the desire spend the week in Florida. From there, the rest is quick. Mallory's flights were a disaster (as Colby would come to learn is usual). Instead of Marci picking her up from the airport, Colby did. They talked the whole drive back to the house. That week was full of easy conversation, good drinks, good music, sunshine, literal fireworks, Saint Augustine beauty, and a little bit of dancing. Colby somehow found himself working a more realistic 40 hour week. And Mallory was left wondering why she was needed after all. That one trip led to many more and two years of a long-distance relationship. Two years of long-distance were followed by two more years living together. And those two years were followed by this wedding! And it was all because of Matt Damon :)
