Colby and I met online. Our first text was on September 21, 2021. As we were getting to know one another through texting and phone calls, Colby suggested I watch 'Ted Lasso' on Apple TV. I had not heard of it but decided to try it and loved the show. For our first date, I decided it would be a pretty cool gesture to recreate the biscuit recipe Ted made for Rebecca for their "Biscuits with The Boss" moments. I enjoy recreating recipes from various places. After we enjoyed a dinner of good food and easy conversation, the server asked if we were interested in dessert. I ordered an Irish coffee, Colby said that sounded good to her as well. I said. " By the way, I have dessert taken care of." I then slid a small pink box of biscuits across the table, Ted Lasso style, to Colby . Apparently it was a pretty big deal because it earned me a second date. ****Colby's note**** Jim made the pink box, exactly like the one Ted Lasso gave to Rebecca. The thing is, Jim had to order a set of 10 large pink boxes from Amazon to create one little pink box! When Jim slide the pink box across the table, I knew immediately what was inside. I thought, "There must be something to this guy if he took all this time and energy for a first date." Boy, was I right!
Back in 2021, Westerville had a Christmas Tree lighting block party where they had closed the main street down for the festivities. We were walking through the intersection of State and College and we had a friend of Colby's take a picture of us sharing a kiss in the middle of the intersection. Later that night was when I first told Colby I loved her. So I planned on proposing to her at that same spot. Luckily Westerville closed the intersection for their first of the summer Fourth Friday block party. I arranged for a photographer and I had Colby's mom and friends assist in making sure she was available. As we were walking through the same State and College intersection Colby said maybe someone will take a picture of us. I had already hired one so she basically fell right into my plans that I had in place all along.
