Colby and Erica met in October of 2021 at Joey Granahan's birthday party in Philadelphia, PA. Colby and Joey grew up together in Garnet Valley, PA and have continued to be friends throughout the years. AnnMarie DiCarlo, Joey's fiancé, played basketball at Franklin and Marshall College with Erica. Annmarie hosted a "Joe" themed party at which Erica chose to dress as a baby kangaroo (a joey). Colby came dressed in St. Joe's gear (thank you Ryan Hurley - we still have your shirt). Colby and Erica spent most of the party getting to know one another and decided to go on their first date the very next weekend at Panorama in Philly. Since that first date, Colby and Erica spent nearly every weekend together. Erica applied to nursing school outside of Philly and the rest is history. On April 30, 2022, Colby and Erica moved into their first apartment together in Washington Square West. Colby spent the year working from home and working on his master's degree while Erica attended nursing school. The pair decided to move to their next apartment in Malvern, PA and Erica landed her first nursing job at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Since both Colby and Erica love animals, they decided to rescue a dog of their own. George was bussed to NJ from Texas and the couple fell in love with him. Six months later, the couple decided to rescue a second dog so that George would have a sibling. Rory was driven up from Georgia. The two have been best friends and love wearing matching sweaters(; On April 15, 2024, Colby and Erica settled on their first house in West Chester, PA. They have since made it a cozy home. THE PROPOSAL: Colby decided that he would try and surprise Erica with his marriage proposal after asking her father, Glynn, for his approval. Colby noted that Erica is not very easily surprised and this would be a challenge to plan! On May 30th, 2024, Erica was coming home at 8AM after a long night shift and opened their front door to "sad romantic songs" playing on the speakers and rose petals spread across the ground leading to the downstairs living room. Colby was kneeling on one knee, surrounded by lights, candles, and rose petals, with a ring glistening in it's box. Of course the answer was, and will always be, "YES"! Erica's engagement ring is a new setting with Colby's late-mother's diamond as it's centerpiece. It is a piece of his family that they will cherish together forever.
