Narragansett Town Beach is a classic New England saltwater coastal beachfront that offers some of the best, cleanest and accessible conditions. Located in the center of town, the beach offers ample parking, along with food, restrooms, a surfing area and a beautiful, sandy beachfront. Parking and beach access is free after Labor Day.
Newport is full of things to do! Just 15 miles away from Narragansett, Newport has a number of beautiful public beaches, tons of great dining options, shopping, and museums. We highly encourage out-of-town guests to make a visit!
There are many ornate and famous Guilded Age mansions worth exploring in Newport! We especially love The Breakers (famous for being the grand Vanderbilt home), Marble House (incredible detail and 500,000 cubic feet of marble), and Rosecliff (The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow was filmed here)! You can purchase tickets on the Preservation Society website or on-site at any of the mansions to experience the beauty and architectural history!
One of the top attractions in Newport, the Cliff Walk is a 3.5-mile walk along the beautifully scenic shoreline, where you will pass by a number of Newport’s famous gilded mansions, including, The Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff, and get to experience panoramic views of the ocean.
Interesting local history museum, with a Folk Art Quilt Show on Sept. 8 - 10th. See contemporary quilts crafted by local makers from 10 am to 4 pm in the Metz Exhibition Hall alongside historic quilts from their collection. Short presentations will be given at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm each day.
During the day on September 9th starting at 12pm, the festival will bring together more than 40 artisans, as well as performances, demonstrations, children’s activities, local breweries and food trucks.
