Multnomah Falls is Oregon’s tallest, at 611-feet, and most recognizable waterfall in the state, located on the Multnomah Creek in the Columbia River Gorge. The waterfall is accessible from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate 84. (Approximately 35 miles from Hood River, Oregon.) You can see the fall with no effort from the bottom or do the easy 2.4 mile round trip hike to see more of the waterfall!
At 11,244 feet, it is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest peak in the Cascade Range. The Timberline Lodge sits at an elevation of 5,960 feet, within the Mount Hood National Forest and is accessible through the Mount Hood Scenic Byway. It has the longest skiing season in the U.S., and is open for skiers and snowboarders all 12 months of the year. It is also notable in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in the movie "The Shining". Wahclella Falls - For beginners Difficulty: Easy Distance: 2 mile loop Two waterfalls, including multiple viewpoints of Wahclella Falls Angels Rest – Best views of the Gorge Difficulty: Moderate Distance: 4.8 miles round trip Exposed bluff that gives you 270-degree panoramic views Beacon Rock – Washington Side Difficulty: Moderate Distance: 1.8 mile round trip This is one of the most prominent geological features in the gorge. The 848-foot monolith was once the core of a volcano.
