Cody and Amanda met on New Years Eve at Lodo's Bar and Grill in Westminster. Amanda was out with her sister Cayla, and their roommate Kristine. Luckily, Cody also had two friends with him, and they all spent the rest of the night hanging out and having fun. At midnight, she kissed him. A few days later, Cody took Amanda out on their first date to an Improv comedy show. She was so nervous she couldn't eat. They had a great time! But the timing wasn't quite right to continue the relationship. Though they kept in touch, they didn't start dating again until a year and a half later.
In July of 2014, Cody and Amanda went on their second first date. They went to the Denver Aquarium, and each still have matching 'Save the Tigers' bracelets as souvenirs. On July 19th, 2014, they decided to become an 'official' couple while at Channel 93.3's Big Gig Concert. They remember seeing Walk the Moon and loved the song 'Shut up and Dance'. It had become 'their song' but after months of it being over-played on the radio, they both now hate that song with a passion.
On the weekend before the 4th of July, Cody and Amanda were lucky enough to spend some time with her family on the lake. They spent the time riding jet skis and drinking by a lake in Nebraska. They left with sand all over and exhausted on Sunday afternoon. On the drive home, as Amanda was falling asleep, Cody grabbed her hand, and casually asked if she would marry him. To which she smiled, and replied... 'wait, for real?' After saying 'of course!' they started their wedding plans. Within the next couple of days, Amanda had ordered the prefect ring from an online Etsy Store. Two weeks later, it arrived in the mail. She was out with friends on the day of the delivery, and was worried about the Post Office losing the package. So she messaged Cody and asked him to check on the ring, and make sure it made it to the right box. Luckily, they didn't have to go knocking on neighbor's doors to see if they got the package instead. That night, Amanda came home to lit candles, and chocolate covered strawberries, and a fiance on one knee. She got to say 'yes' again!
