How we met

Coffee Meets Bagel Meets Guide Dogs

Tina and Cody initially met at WSU through a Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy training club. Cody was training Bear as a veterinary student, and Tina was a zoology undergraduate hoping to get a puppy of her own to train at the time. A few years later, they reconnected through the phone app Coffee Meets Bagel. Tina contacted Cody first through the app while Cody was a 4th year vet student and Tina was a 3rd year zoology major. Sociologic studies on dating apps show a higher frequency of successful long-term relationships when girls first contact guys, and such was the case here! They messaged through the app for several weeks while Cody was staying at a hospital in Spokane for a preceptor rotation. Her messages lent warmth to Cody while he was snowed in by a blizzard. When he returned to Pullman and WSU, they went on a first date to Sangria, a Peruvian restaurant in Moscow, Idaho. Their second date was to get boba and see the live action Beauty and the Beast in theatres. The rest is history.

How we got engaged

4/14/21

Just after New Years 2019, Cody and Tina were passing through San Luis Obispo, and stopped on Terrace Hill, which is a quiet place overlooking SLO's downtown. It was there they decided to move from San Francisco, and ultimately that move lead back to SLO county. In April 2021, Cody took Tina on a hike there at sunset, where a picnic blanket and charcuterie board were mysteriously already set up. Tina was concerned that the deli meat had been left there all day, but was impressed that no one in SLO had disturbed the spread. After a glass of a wine, she was very surprised to see a ring! She said "is this real" and "what should I say?" She accepted his suggestion "is that a yes?" Thank you to Rachelle and Abby for helping set up this surprise. Rachelle took some beautiful pictures of this moment.

About the Venue

Ragged Point Inn

We are getting married at Ragged Point Inn in south Big Sur. This is a 38 room hotel situated on the coastal cliffs along the Pacific Coast Highway. We have booked the hotel for the event. We highly recommend that our guests call Ragged Point Inn to reserve a room on the evening of Saturday May 28th, and other nights as guests see fit. We will run out of rooms. The ceremony will occur at 4pm, and the reception officially will end at 10pm, though having a hotel room may allow ongoing celebration to a degree. Ragged Point should be about 65-70 degrees and clear this May, though it can get windy and there may be a wind chill. The ceremony and dinner are planned to occur outside. There is an indoor dance floor that will also be accessible during cocktail hour. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns about Ragged Point. See the travel page on this website for further details about room booking and things to do in the area! COVID and Masks: Of course this is a constantly evolving issue. At this time we plan to require that guests wear masks while getting food.
