How We Met

Barefoot in Parking lots

Cody and I were first introduced to each other by a mutual friend in the parking lot of Smokey Bones. It started out with a brief introduction and a quick good-bye, he had to leave to meet a friend. That's all it took though, I remember those big blue eyes and hoping to get a chance to see him again. A couple weeks later, me and the mutual friend were getting ready to be moved out of our townhome. Cody came over to hang out and help. I met them in the car to go grab something to eat first. As I ran barefoot carrying my shoes, across the parking lot my friend made fun at me. Cody immediately started grinning, he enjoyed my hick side. He thinks it's endearing that I rarely wear shoes. I should have known right then and there he was the one. He'll tell you thats the day he fell in love with me. Only a few dates, and long drives later I would fall for him.

The Proposal

A Road Trip and a Paper Ring 3.22.17

As I said before, Cody and I would love taking random middle of the night drives together. The open road, good music, and each others company is all we need. In the middle of an early 4am road trip on March 22, 2017, my best friend got down on his knee. As we were driving down some country back roads, I told him to look at the moon. It was bright red and huge, taking up the entire night sky. I said to him "the stars and the moon look so pretty". He then suggested we should pullover and get out. As we stood in each others arms, I leaned to his chest for warmth. He leaned and kissed me before he said "hold on a minute." He then ran to the car to grab something. I was a little frustrated. "What are you doing? Come back. Hurry." Thats when it happened. He came back, got down on one knee and asked me if I would make him lucky enough to be his wife. I quickly said "yes, of course!" I couldn't imagine my life without him. He slid on a handmade paper ring that he ran back to the car for. I adore every inch of the paper rings, bc he makes me them anytime we go out to eat.
