We were apart of the same friend group throughout all of college. After sophomore year (2016), people began asking us more consistently about the other, asking if there was anything going on between us - Our responses " We're just friends". We remained friends (secretly thinking the other one was super cute) until right after sophomore year ended, around April of 2017 - When we finally admitted to each other that we liked each other, and took a chance on each other. After a summer of going on dates and hanging out, on August 12, 2017 - Cody asked Sarina to be his girlfriend.

We dated for two years, went on many adventures - Hiking, camping, snowboarding, hammocking, exploring, etc. While also learning so much about each other, oursevles, how to do relationship, how to choose the other when feelings don't match up, growing together and becoming comfortable in our own unique relationship dynamic. We grew closer as time went on, and realized that the thought of choosing each other for forever- made sense- it seemed right. Dreaming of a future together seemed like the next and most fun adventure we've gone on thus far together.

Throughout our entire 2-year dating relationship- Friends and family would tease us, asking when we were getting engaged. Over time we got used to that just being a part of us dating. As we began talking more seriously about engagement in 2019, the frequency of people asking also increased. We began looking at rings & talking about a timeline in the Spring of 2019. We began talking about venues, rings, all the things. Over the summer Cody had started saving up for a ring, and Sarina knew a proposal was coming sometime in the fall of 2019. By accident, Cody had given away his progress in the ring-buying process & so created a coverup story. Cody told Sarina that the wax mold (before actually casting it ) of the ring had broken - and so instead of Sarina thinking it would happen in September- The timeline was majorly pushed back. Cody got his guy friends to convince Sarina and their own girlfriends of this story... and it worked. After that- Sarina had no clue what the timeline would look like.
