We met while working for Lumpkin County Parks & Recreation. We worked together, lining fields and setting up sports programs for the kiddos. After a year of working together, Cody finally asked me for a date. We both decided playing golf in late February 2021 would be fun. After playing terribly because we were so nervous, we ended our date eating Mexican and had awkward conversations all the way back to Yahoola valley. When we both got out of the car, Cody kissed me with my golf bag, shoes, phone, and wallet in my hands. The rest is history.
Within the first year of our relationship, Cody was constantly getting pushed to put a ring on my finger by family, friends, and, most of all, me. On Monday, June 5th, I was on the phone with my Maid of Honor and best friend, Anna Hyde, talking about the future when she lied to me and told me Cody had no plans to propose. Little did I know, he already had the ring. Saturday, June 10th rolls around and Cody takes me on a date to the golf course. We got paired up with these two older men and played the best we have ever played until about the 17th hole. Cody's rhythm was off, and he was shakey. I asked what was wrong, and he responded, "I am just hungry," I believed him. We got to the green on 18, and I finally took three putts to finish our round. Cody went to get my ball out of the hole, got down on one knee, and asked if I would marry him. Through my tears of excitement, I said yes.
