Sammy and Cody first met at Neighborhood Christian Preschool in 2000! Years later they ran on the same cross country team in high school. Cody and Sammy had not talked much, but one day Sammy's mom pulled out old preschool photos and she noticed there were some of Cody and her together! The next day she brought those photos with her to practice and excitingly showed them to Cody. In the most “Cody” way he responded with an unenthusiastic "Nice.” and Sammy immediately regretted showing him...Somehow she was able to move past that and they became friends and may have even “dated” for a while. After their short-lived high school romance, they reconnected years later.
In 2018 Sammy and Cody rekindled their old flame. They spent time going to the lake, shooting, and even went shopping together. Sammy should have known Cody liked her when he agreed to go to the mall. Finally, Cody asked Sammy over for a real date to watch a movie...or so she thought. With many of Cody’s family members in town, their movie date turned into a dinner date with his siblings, grandma, aunts, uncles, and, most importantly, his mom. It was not what she was expecting but it is a night that neither of them will forget!
They took a weekend trip up to Oregon to go camping and to visit Crater Lake National Park. July 30th, 2020 they drove into Crater Lake Park where they started out by going on a hike down to the water level. The trek back was uphill and ended up being much more tiring than they expected. When they got back to the car, Cody asked Sammy, "Are you too sweaty to take pictures now?" Sammy’s first thought was, “I’m always sweaty...” She then thought that it was a weird question as Cody isn’t one for pictures. Nevertheless, they hopped back in the car and kept making their way around the lake. As they were driving, Cody abruptly flipped the car around and said "I want to check out that spot we just passed.” Little did Sammy know that he found this hidden spot before they even left for Oregon. They got out of the car to check it out and they had a perfect view over the bluest water you can imagine! He ran back to the car saying that he wanted to grab his phone to take a picture. When he got back, he set up his tripod. When Cody walked over to Sammy he got down on one knee to propose and she said YES! They popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated.
