Mikayla's Story: A week before, my roommate told me about a fun group date her and her boyfriend had set up. She asked me if I wanted to go on a blind date with one of her boyfriend's friends. I thought it would be a blast! A couple days before the day, sweet Cody called me and asked me on the phone because "he didn't believe in asking girls out over text". Saturday came and I was pretty excited. I always had a good time with my roommate and was looking forward to a fun group date. I met Cody as we walked into the kitchen and Cody and his friend were waiting. I was in shock at how lucky I got to be set up on a blind date with him. I automatically figured he was out of my league. We first went to dinner. Right as we sat down, Cody and I hit it off. We talked about the craziest things. I had never had a date like it! He was kind, giving, funny, respectful, and humble. Since that day I fell in love with my best friend and cannot wait to spend eternity with him. Cody's Story: Really only one way to describe meeting Mikayla- Dream come true. Absolute dream come true. When my friend told me that he wanted to set me up with his girlfriend's roommate, I was pretty hesitant. I'd never been on a blind date before. But, I agreed, and it was the best decision I've ever made. Mikayla, to keep it simple, is my dream girl. She was kind and sweet, loved her family and the USA, and she said that she would happily watch baseball with me. Goals! That first date we ate Costa Vida (we both love Mexican food) then went to a basketball game. Never had I paid so little attention to a game I attended! Mikayla had me captivated and wanting to know more, and, utilizing a bet on the game, I got her to say yes to a second date. The rest, as they say, truly is history. And I couldn't be more excited to get her for the rest of eternity!
It was a complete surprise!! We were in the middle of finals and the weather was perfect! Cody wanted to go study in a park so we drove up to a park in Woodland Hills. I suggested sitting on the grass but Cody was pretty set on going to sit on a bench. Before we walked to the bench, Cody went to the back seat to grab his science book. Little did I know he was grabbing something else. I heard something drop but thought it was phone. Later I found out my cute Cody dropped the ring box- there's a dent to prove it;) We went to the bench that overlooked Utah valley. We started to study, but a couple minutes in Cody closed his book. We kept talking and then Cody began to talk about our favorite song (Rest of Our Life by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill). He said the sweetest things and then turned around and asked me to marry him. I was in shock and smiling uncontrollably. I, of course, said YES, and we are so excited for August 8th.
