The Moehn Event

Our story began in September 2020 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, where we were both invited to spend a weekend with a big group of friends. We met and instantly clicked and it felt like we’d known each other for years. There was definitely a spark, but the timing wasn’t right. Mel had just graduated into peak COVID chaos and Cody was settling into life in Chicago. So we went our separate ways, but neither of us forgot that weekend and both of us had a feeling we could be something special. Over the next few years we kept running into each other, always picking up right where we left off. On April 25, 2022, after a Coachella-filled weekend in Palm Springs, Cody asked Mel to be his girlfriend. At that time we lived 1,160 miles apart, Mel was in Austin and Cody was in Chicago. So our next chapter was fifteen months of long distance that was full of airport reunions, countdowns to the next trip, and lots of FaceTime dates, but it was always worth it. In summer 2023, we packed up and moved to Denver to start our next chapter together, where we’ve been building our life ever since, including adopting our furbaby, Kida-bo-bida, in August 2024. And now we’re getting married!! Almost 6 years after we met, and just over 4 years after we started dating! We can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together continuing to grow, build a life we love that is full of people we love, and explore the world side by side.
