Floating the Truckee River is a summertime favorite. Go grab some tubes and some beer at the Truckee Save Mart, park at the Tahoe City Transit Center, hop in the river and have fun! It usually takes about 3-4 hours to leisurely float the river. You will exit at the River Ranch Lodge and then can make your way back to the car either by catching a ride or leaving a parked car down at the end. You can also rent a bigger raft at www.truckeeriverrafting.com which will give you a ride back up the river to your car. After rafting you should check out the shops and restaurants in Tahoe City. Our favorite mountain shop is Alpenglow Sports.
In mornings we like to go paddle boarding around Brockway Point. If you want to go Paddle Boarding or Kayaking, Adrift is a great spot to rent a board. If you head towards Brockway Point, keep an eye out for Porcupine Point (the wedding location) with the grey and green pier with a Porcupine Flag! You might see us on the pier ;) After you go Paddle Boarding you can grab lunch or dinner at Jasons or Whitecaps Pizza that has beach side dining and a bar. Or you can go get a sandwich and fresh juice at Tahoe Central Market.
Martis Peak is a 100 year old fire lookout and with in amazing 360 degree views of Tahoe! You can hike to the look out from the Tahoe Rim Trail (8 miles roundtrip) or you can also drive on the fire road and walk a shorter distance (about 1/2 mile) - although we recommend the full hike! You will see beautiful alpine meadows and views of the lake!
This is an easier hike than Martis Peak but still beautiful and scenic. After you hike you can go check out the Village at Squaw Valley or even take the tram up to High Camp and enjoy views of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley! During the winter, Squaw Valley is our favorite place to ski :)
