We met at the bowling alley in Alpena Michigan on an evening Cody bowled on his league. Cody told his good friend Tom, "I'm going to have her, she will be mine". Tom laughed at Cody, with the response of "Yeah right". After that night we talked another time through a friend and I ended up at his house for a party he was throwing. Playing beer pong and Cody was down at my end of the table and he was so charming, fun, outgoing, and also very good at the game haha. His smile was so contagious! He wasn't like any other guy I had met. He was amazing, I knew I had met someone special, someone who could change everything. After a few parties we decided we wanted to hangout alone and talk and get to know each other a bit more. I told the girls at school (this was my senior year) I had never felt this way before and I felt as if I had found someone so unique and perfect. I remember sitting in class and telling them that every time I saw him I got butterflies, which had never happened to me before with anybody else. The girls told me I had to go over there and see him and talk, but lets be honest we were seniors and none of us thought it would ever last forever, it was just a crush. I ended up there that night and we sat down and just talked, telling each other our pasts and simpiliy just getting to know each other. I continued to go see him a few times a week after school since he was out of school and working full time at the local bait shop. He went downstate to hunt October 29, 2011 where he had family down in Lansing Michigan. He sat in his bow stand that evening and texted me that he fell hard for me and wanted to give this a try, he wanted to make us a couple. October 29, 2011 was the best day ever, we were both so happy. I ended up moving in with him right away and we have been together since that day. Over 6 years later and here we are, taking engagement photo's on our 6 year anniversary and planning our wedding. Love is such an amazing thing. We found love.
Going on our first trip out of Michigan as a couple happened September 22, 2017 when we took a trip to Orlando Florida. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort for 4 days enjoying a vacation as a couple. This was my first ever trip out of Michigan so I had so much running through my head as we entered airports, the plane ride, and the resort itself. Getting to the resort we walked in and were both handed a glass of champagne and was told to go get in our bathing suits and enjoy ourselves. Excited and ready to relax, we walked around the resort and grabbed some drinks and checked out all the pools in the caves. There was this big bridge that overlooked the pools that swayed back and forth which we thought was beautiful and so cool. We stopped and checked it out and then kept walking through the resort. We got up to our rooms and settled in, quickly heading back to the pools Cody wanted to take the longer way to the cave and go across the big bridge we had seen earlier. We were walking across the bridge and Cody said "Hey look at this lizard"!! I didn't think much of it and kept walking lol. He said "Hey come here, check him out"!!! I turned around and he was kneeling down and pointing down into the crack of the flooring of the bridge, I bent over to check it out and he pulled out a ring from the crack and asked me to marry him. I couldn't even cry!!! I wanted to cry but was so happy I just smiled and smiled, jumping into his arms for a hug and saying "YES"! He took me by surprise and made this trip even more amazing! Waiting almost 6 years to take this step in our relationship was so worth waiting, it was perfect. I wouldn't change anything about us. We continued our vacation celebrating with the bartenders and friends we made there (everyone was so friendly). We had a fancy romantic dinner at Hemingways up top of the waterfall and celebrated us. The rest of the trip he showed me off as his fiance to everyone. Forever a wonderful trip and memory. 9.22.17
