Our first date was in downtown Salt Lake City on a cold and snowy night. Laurie was circling the block, looking for a parking spot near our meeting place. She rolled to a stop at a red light, coincidentally at the perfect spot. Stopped in place, she looked out her right window to the side of the road, and there Cody was, standing on the sidewalk, framed by parked cars at the curb. We locked eyes while on the phone with each other, and for a brief second, time stood still. This was a profound and uniquely timed moment, and the beginning of something beautiful for both of us. That early connection soon turned into something real– more dates, focusing on getting to know one another, lots of calls and FaceTimes, and before we knew it, we became best friends. We laughed hard, had adventures, and collected memories along the way. Before long, we were traveling together to San Francisco, Hawaii, and all the little places in between, having the time of our lives. Every trip and every shared experience just confirmed what we already felt: this was home. We spent a year living in Salt Lake City near one another, close enough to borrow butter, far enough to miss each other. Living there meant late movie nights, spontaneous plans, and eventually falling deeper in love. Later, obsessed in the best way, it was time that we moved to Logan so Laurie could finish school, pursuing a degree in graphic design. This is where we are now in our story of life. Building our future, accomplishing our goals together, and herding a cat named Cleo around our home. Through everything—new chapters, new adventures, and all the in-between—we’ve lovingly grown together and look forward to what the next part of life brings our way. Our story is about timing; a theme that we have always referenced and admired through our relationship. Whether it’s meeting each other at the perfect time in our lives, making the life choices that have led us to where we are now, or simply beating the rush of people at events or stores, we’ve always reflected on our perfect timing. Together, we’ve created a life full of laughter, shared dreams, and the support that makes us better versions of ourselves. And now what lovely timing for the two of us to become Mr. and Mrs. As we prepare for this celebration of love, we would like to take the opportunity to mention the memories we carry of two incredible women who shaped the people we are today– Laurie’s mother, Jennifer Doan Daines, and Cody’s sister, Camrie Willes Wells. Their love, strength, and presence are still felt in so many parts of our lives, and we honor them in everything we do. We appreciate you all for being here in our lives, for supporting us, and for honoring all that has come before us, all that is present, and all that’s still ahead. We are so excited to finally be married, and the excitement from every one of you has helped us along our journey. Thank you! Love, Laurie and Cody
