We first met at Etage Gym, before most of the city was awake. Cody was a regular, always starting his week off with a workout. Kara was usually nearby, quietly doing her morning work. Every Monday, without fail, we’d exchange the same simple “good morning.” It became our quiet routine. Somewhere along the way, those small good mornings became a way to get to know each other, little by little. Until one day, thanks to a little encouragement and maybe some light peer pressure from friends, Cody decided to change things up. The next Monday, instead of the usual greeting, he asked Kara if she’d like to grab a drink sometime. She smiled and said, “I don’t drink,” catching Cody off guard. Then came the save, “but I’d love to go out to eat.” That first dinner, over some incredible thai food was the start of our relationship.
