Be sure to check the weather prior to visiting! Amicalola has a great walking path, however, there are a lot of stairs (If you want to avoid a long hike, you can park at the middle of the falls and walk right up). We love hiking here, especially at this time of the year, due to the lower foot traffic. Also, with the limited foliage, you see some AMAZING views. Bonus points if we've had some rain and the waterfall is flowing strong. You're going to get some great pictures here - be sure to tag us :)
We love this hike in the winter. Views all the way up to the top! Be mindful, this is a strenuous hike, so be sure to take some water with you. It's about a 4 mile and 4 hour round trip hike (2hrs up and 2hrs down). If you visit and make it up to the top, be sure to take some incredible pictures of the mountains surrounding you and tag us!
Take a visit to Dukes Creek. It's a nice mild hike with great waterfall views. You really get to experience the mountains along the path. We took a trip here with Duke (because...obviously!), before he passed and it is now a very special place for us. Location is key - you're close to Helen and Dahlonega for lunch/dinner. and more exploring of cute little towns in the North Georgia Mountains.
If you're looking for a relaxing day out, this winery will have some great views for you to enjoy while sipping on a glass of wine.
Some more great views, good food, and even more wine!
If you feel like heading down to the city, be sure to check out one of our favorite art museums. There are plenty of exhibits throughout, and tons of amazing artwork. If you don't want to drive (which we suggest not doing to avoid parking fees), it's a quick trip on the Marta to Midtown. There's a lot of great food around here too ;)
