We met on December 16th 2023 at a Christmas party for Austin Ridge. Cody randomly found out about it in service and Heather came solely for moral support for a friend (😉). Our (now mutual) friend, Wayne had introduced us to each other at this party [since he and Cody were already talking and Heather came up to say hi]. We talked for a while, but went separate ways until Cody decided it was time to show everyone that he could do a standing backflip which caught Heather’s eye [ok, not really….only for the party vibes]. Heather was doing all she could to get the vibes up, so she was trying to get everyone on the dance floor. Having seen Cody’s flip, it seemed a shame to waste that on the sidelines. [So, on my way to bring another friend to the dance floor, I also asked Cody “are you going to do that out here?”]. So at the peak of the song Bohemian Rhapsody [after Cody, of course, had plenty of time to chat Heather up whilst ‘waiting for the right song timing’], Cody did the long awaited backflip. Later on in the night after finding out she worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife, Cody thought it would be really smooth to get her contact info via saying he’d need it for “hiking recommendations.” [Minutes after leaving the party, Cody texted, “Cody, flip guy.” We sat together at church the very next day.] Those “hiking recommendations” turned into a first hike on New Year’s Day [after Cody’s ongoing, professional beating around the bush over the Christmas holiday] and the beginning of lifelong adventure together.
