We first crossed paths at KPMG - Haley joined the firm in 2015, and Cody in early 2017. We ended up on the same engagement, the “dream team,” where we logged plenty of late nights and weekends together. We became fast friends - the kind who could survive busy season together and still want to hang out afterward. When Cody left the firm in 2019, our friendship didn’t end there. As two die-hard MN sports fans, we were always up for a Vikings, Wild, or Gophers game. Summers were spent on the golf course, and you could usually find us doing pull tabs at a local bar afterward. Everyone else insisted there had to be something more…but we were convinced that we were just really, really good friends. Until 2023. After years of waiting for the “right moment,” Cody finally worked up the courage to ask Haley on an actual date. Haley was skeptical - very skeptical - but agreed to give it a shot. On that first date, she spent the first 20 minutes grilling him like she was running a full background check to ensure there weren’t any deal-breakers. But pretty quickly something shifted, and it just felt right. What started as friendship has turned into the best kind of love 🖤
In July 2025, we bought our first home together in Rosemount. We’re still not sure who fell in love with it more - us or Dudley. About a week after moving in, we went to Saturday brunch with some friends. When we got back, Cody asked Haley to come check something out in the basement. Instead, he led her out to the patio where he dropped to one knee - and both of our families were waiting outside to capture the moment. Dudley, who was absolutely in on the secret, proudly trotted out in a little tuxedo to help seal the deal. And truth be told…it wasn’t entirely a surprise - Cody forgot to cover the dog cameras in the house and Haley may have seen a few suspicious movements during brunch. But regardless, it was still a perfect, unforgettable moment in our new home - the start of our next chapter.
