How did we meet

Cody and I were fortunate to meet at Kensington Church. He had been attending for a few years and I would pop in occasionally. In April of last year, I just so happened to meet Cody and his friends. He was so welcoming and made it very easy to fit in. In July, we went on a group trip to Cedar Point. I had this subconscious hope in the back of my head that I would get to ride a few roller coasters by him. My expectations were blown because we not only got to sit on a few rides together and next to each other while traveling. We quickly found out that we had so much in common and a similar sense of humor. What stood out in my head was how kind, thoughtful, and respectful he was to me, as well as everyone else. Fast forward to December 2024, Cody had planned an ice skating night and was anticipating a lot of people coming based on an event he did the previous year. In the end, I was the only one who agreed to go in our group and we got to spend the whole evening together skating. We enjoyed learning about each other's family backgrounds, core values, and beliefs. After the skating ended, we sat together continuing to talk for hours. The next day, he texted me and asked if I wanted to go to dinner and look at the Christmas lights in Downtown Rochester. This is where our love story truly began.

The Proposal

On June 7th, Cody and I spent the day together and grabbed coffee in Downtown Rochester Hills. He then asked if I wanted to walk around at the park and showed me a bench tucked into the trees with a private view of the creek. I was preparing to leave on vacation in two weeks from which he said, "that it was important that I make sure to send you off in style." He then got down on one knee asked me a question that would change our lives. I said yes immediately and the countdown to becoming husband and wife began.
