Some love stories feel like they belong in a movie. Dana and Cody’s started at a concert. In September 2019, Dana went to a three-night Pinegrove concert run with her friend Anna. During the first night at Webster Hall, the opening band Boyscott took the stage and Dana immediately noticed the drummer. Something about the way he played completely captivated her. Like any 24-year-old at a concert in 2019, she started filming Snapchat videos of him and jokingly labeled them “my boyfriend.” Later that night, Dana walked upstairs to the bathroom. When she came out, leaning against the wall right in front of her was the very drummer she had been talking about all night, Cody. She told him how incredible he was, and he jokingly replied, “No, tell me I was horrible.” Laughing, Dana answered, “Okay… you were horrible.” The next night at the second show, Dana walked into the bar at the venue, and, somehow, there he was again. Same drummer, same unbelievable coincidence. She opened with the only thing she could think of: “You were so horrible last night.” Cody laughed and remembered her. By the third show, Dana was convinced she had to see him one more time. After the concert, she searched the venue but couldn’t find him anywhere. Finally giving up, she walked toward the exit and stepped outside. As she turned around one last time, there he was again. Standing right in front of her. This time, Dana made sure the moment counted. Before leaving, she shouted in her unmistakable New York accent, “You betta add me on Instagram!” Cody’s best friend looked at him, took a drag of his cigarette, and said, “I think you’d better add her.” And the rest is history. After years of music, memories, and building a life together, Cody proposed on February 1st, 2026, at JFK Airport. As Dana returned from a trip to Nashville, she looked up at baggage claim to see Cody running toward her with a sign. Moments later, he got down on one knee, and she said YES! What began with a drummer on stage is now a lifelong duet <3
