Question

Are Kids welcome?

Answer

OF COURSE! Our girls will love to have friends to play with! We're going to have yard games, pony rides, and a special coloring table for the littles. We can't wait to cut a rug with the party's top dancers!

Question

So... it's at a ranch?!

Answer

Yep! We love being outside with the kids, and want to have as much family fun as possible! We're so blessed to have such large families who love us very much, and we're excited to hang out with all of you!

Question

Why am I invited to the rehearsal dinner?

Answer

Alicia's family invites family members who travel to the rehearsal dinner, and we'd like to carry on that tradition! You definitely shouldn't feel obligated to come, but we want to extend the invitation to Family since you're all traveling so far and you all haven't had a chance to meet yet! If you're busy exploring the hills and enjoying your vacation we're so happy you're exploring this wonderful place we are so lucky to call home! We just ask that if you received an invitation to the rehearsal dinner you RSVP so we know how many to cook for. :)

Question

Online RSVPs? Why?

Answer

Full disclosure - Alicia is the worst person in the world with mail. If it's a bill, she calls to pay it or it's already on auto pay. If it's junk it goes into the garbage unopened and don't even ask about bank statements (she's probably never actually read one.) The less mail the better as it tends to get put into a box - to drive Cody nuts, or left in the car, or pushed under a seat in the car, or wherever Emily carries it off to. The less mail she's responsible for the better. We all know our weaknesses, and Alicia owns this one! That being said, if your online RSVP code doesn't work or you have any problems call Alicia at 989-590-2760 or Cody at 507-276-9774. Also, now that you know our biggest gripe with each other - Cody complaining about the mail and Alicia never opening the mail you're expected to share yours in a round table discussion. Think of it as a conversation starter for a table where you don't know everyone... "so she hates when I leave the toilet seat up" kind of deal but make it funny!

Question

Bonfire after the wedding?

Answer

Heck yeah! Because it's a resort the DJ is done and the bar closes at 11pm. We're looking forward to having a bonfire after the wedding, there's bonfire pits all over. We will be respectful of those who are sleeping but bring some chairs and let's hang out! If you're lucky our Officiant the beloved "Brother Mark" may ask you "what brings you to the circle today?"

Question

Is the wedding outside?

Answer

Absolutely! Let's all pray for a nice sunny 75 degree day with no rain, because there isn't a back up plan. I mean other than you all sitting in your dinner seats and us spending the whole day in the reception area, which wouldn't be much fun! We're looking forward to yard games and picnic tables with you guys!

Question

Is there cell phone service at the Ranch in the Hills?

Answer

NO!!!!!!! I know it's crazy right, but prepare the kids. Download your movies to your ipads, or just take them away for the weekend! We are planning on bringing walkie talkies for the wedding party to communicate while we're out there, we would recommend bringing them if you have some as cell reception is little to none. There is wifi at certain cabins, and at the reception area. Think of it as our gift to you, come hang out, be present, ignore the phones, stay of the tic tok and have fun! There's service in Hill City, and scattered throughout the Black Hills but it isn't as good as you're used to. Welcome to rural America with crazy elevation changes! Let's chat and decide on a channel to use to talk to each other if necessary, or set up a channel for the families. We're all staying at the same place, so maybe just throw it back to the 1910s and go knock on the door, no Party lines available unfortunately.

Question

Okay what’s the bar situation!?

Answer

Everyone’s favorite question! So, big change for Michigan folks, normal for everyone else, we will have a cash bar. We’re buying some kegs, depending on RSVPs and some wine or champagne or something for the toast. No liquor, they only have a beer and wine license. If you’re set on bottled beer, $4 a bottle. We will have Coors light, Bud light and something sweeter (cider or something like that.) They have about every beer you can imagine and some IPAs for the weirdos. 😉 Wine is $4 a glass, they also have cans of pop. Working with the venue for ideas as to how they usually do it, but there will be free options! Pinky swear!
