You could say the old adage, “third time’s a charm” describes our love story pretty well. The first time Cody and Abbie’s paths crossed was at his annual Halloween party. Unfortunately, the pair didn’t technically meet at the party because the handsome host, dressed as Peter Pan, had been stood up by Tinkerbell and had already gone to bed for the evening by the time Abigail arrived. That didn’t stop Abbie from making herself comfortable in his home – so comfortable that she may have “borrowed” a good-smelling candle and the coveted “Best Halloween Costume” trophy on her way out of her future husband’s house. Their second interaction didn’t result in a love connection either. Abbie was finishing up the last of her nursing school rotations at St. Mary’s ER and Cody, having just brought a patient into the emergency department, tried to strike up a conversation with the new nurse. Abbie wasn’t having it, though. Remembering her professor’s warning to the young female nursing students to avoid the “Four P’s” – Police, Physicians, Paramedics and PFirefighters – Abbie ignored the dashing paramedic and strode past him without a word. But, the third time was indeed a charm and a few months later, Cody and Abbie would again meet- this time at a wedding. Apparently, love was in the air for more than just the bride and groom, and Cody bravely approached Abbie and introduced himself. Abbie quickly reminded him that he had previously attempted to shoot his shot at St. Mary’s ER, but she accepted his invitation to dance. That dance turned into hours of talking and making plans to see each other again despite living 5 hours apart. And the rest, as they say, is history. Cody and Abbie navigated the difficulties of a long-distance relationship and grew a love that neither of them thought possible- a love that is genuine, patient, and steady through all of life’s ups and downs. What started with a couple of chance encounters has blossomed into a real, lifelong love that we can’t wait to celebrate with you.
