Lamar University 1992, where it all began!

Life happens after 30 years and, so does love! We met in 1992; reconnected in 2022 and now, we are getting married!

Lamar University. 1992. Who knew...? We met at Lamar University in 1992. I was a Senior; Regina a Freshman. Neither of us remembers how we met or who introduced us, which after 30 years, is understandable. We had a short relationship because I graduated and she had to go back to school. The relationship did involve a date to Astroworld. Who remembers Astroworld??? Anyway...back to the story. I started working and Regina was back at school and we had no contact with each for 30 YEARS!! Well, life happens in 30 years. I got married and had a son. Regina got married and had two beautiful daughters. Ironically, we lived in the same apartment complex for a year and NEVER bumped into each other. We lived in the same general area for years and we NEVER ran into other. We probably were in the same stores, same parking lots, same streets, and didn't even accidentally run into other. It took 30 years and a trip to guess where...for us to reconnect. Lamar University - Beaumont, TX. Homecoming 2022, at Lamar University begins the next phase of this love story. My fraternity brothers and I are regular attendees to Homecoming so, there was no surprise for me to be there. However, after some last minute planning and coercing, Regina and her best friend (sorority sister) decided to make the trip. Friday night, after attending a gala, I retreated to the hospitality room for some food and there she was, sitting at a table, having a conversation with friends. I grabbed food and sat down. She thought I didn't recognize her but, little did she know. For the remainder of the weekend, I paid attention and from what she says, she paid attention also. The rekindling had started and neither of us knew. So, flash forward to Sunday morning. A frat brother and I were having breakfast and Regina and her sorority sister came down, after a short exercise session. After breakfast, and before leaving, I stopped by their table to say goodbye and the romance begins. After a very short conversation, I looked at Regina and "put your phone number in my phone." She added a number and I immediately called the number to ensure it was correct...LOL!! Just prior to leaving, we hugged goodbye and two things happened. I promised I would contact her and we both felt something from THAT hug. Something different. Something spiritual that only God could do. As promised, I called while I was driving home on Sunday, October 2, 2022. We talked that evening, Monday evening, Tuesday evening; had dinner Wednesday evening, and have talked every day since. We have traveled to San Antonio, The Caymans Islands, Dallas, Jamaica, New Orleans, Chicago, Grenada, Washington D.C., Gulf Shores, Hawaii and many other places. We've gone to costume parties, birthday parties and hosted Christmas and Thanksgiving. Leading up to the BIG DAY, we often discuss our relationship, how it happened, where we are now, where will be go, how we will grow, and how different married life will be. Marriage is SUPPOSED to be different because MARRIAGE is different. There is no question about the love we have and that God is real and present. We know God made this happen because of the feeling from that hug on October 2, 2022 and everything that has happened since May God continue to bless this relationship and that He will bless this marriage!
