One of the most extensive, representative and best-preserved archaeological sites of classical Greek civilization, granted Unesco World Heritage status in 1997. Valle dei Templi – the Valley of the Temples – is undoubtedly the most important vestige of ancient Hellenic classical culture in Sicily. It comprises the temples of the gods as well as the necropolis area and sanctuaries. After visiting the temple Valley, head to Scala dei Turchi (only 15 minutes drive), a rocky white cliff on southern Sicily. Its rock is composed of marl, soft, calcareous, clayey and is a dazzling white. the name Scala dei Turchi seems to derive from the fact that in ancient times the ships of Arab and Turkish marauders found shelter in this bay.
