Anna and Coby met in the History Department during their undergrad years, the way many great love stories begin. They became close friends by studying for shared classes, planning meetings for their student organizations, and giggling over SNL sketches. From an ever-growing mutual understanding grew a strong affection for each other and a realization that the two were well-matched in so many respects beyond school. On January 15, 2020, Coby, after days of mentally hyping himself up and despite the under-salted pasta and watery hot chocolate Anna served him, found the courage to ask Anna if they could be more than friends. She said yes! Thus began a new phase of their friendship, one tested and strengthened by quarantines and seven long months apart as Coby did a Fulbright teaching fellowship in Austria, and rewarded by a summer spent hiking together in the Alps.

Since then, Anna and Coby have settled into an apartment in Chaska where one might find Anna practicing Chopin’s waltzes or any number of other songs on the piano, Coby trying his hand at a new recipe from one of the many cookbooks he has accumulated; or both watching old movies, serving as laps for their fickle cat Sarabi, or discussing the successes and tribulations of their days’ work as staff and students at the University of Minnesota. They have also become integral parts of each other’s families, making visits to their parents and adorable baby niece Emma whenever possible … or whenever their laundry basket is full. Marriage will be one more path Anna and Coby take together, the longest one, and they are so grateful to have you join them on their wedding day and throughout their lives.
