Let's go back 18 years ago. Yes, you read that right, 18 years ago. Nick and Candace officially met as little 12 year olds in 7th grade at Hopewell Junior School. It was the typical football player meets cheerleader kind of story. However, fast forward to 8th grade gym class when Candace was early (shocker!) sitting on the bleachers waiting for class to start and in walks the cutest boy in school. You guessed it, Nick. He was strolling in late (again, shocker!) but was always cool, calm, and collected. At that moment, Candace had a crush. The two ended up having a very serious 8th grade relationship. You know, the kind where you say hi and bye in the hallway and have mini nightly talks on the phone about who knows what! One of the moments Candace will always cherish in 8th grade is her first kiss at a Lakota East High School football game. And yes, it was to the cutest boy in school. Nick and Candace went their separate ways in high school and it wasn't until Candace's freshman year at Purdue and Nick's first year as a Marine when the two reconnected. Unfortunately, the two rarely saw each other due to being in different parts of the country so again, they went their separate ways. Fast forward to 2017 when the two, yet again, reconnected downtown at the Banks when Candace was visiting her best friend, Steph, for the weekend. It was like they had just picked up where they left off and have been inseparable ever since. In July of 2021, Nick planned the best proposal where he surprised Candace with family and friends at their favorite concert of the year, Jimmy Buffett. Shout out to Jimmy for throwing the pair the best engagement party ever. I guess it's true when they say, third times a charm.
