What should we do while in the Sonora area?

Answer

It's a historic boom town dating from the California Gold Rush (1848-1855). These days, you'll find antiques, frozen yogurt, a brewery, a whisky bar and a haunted hotel downtown. Once you've explored Sonora, venture an hour south to experience Yosemite National Park. Columbia State Park is right next door to Union Hill Inn! Go to Columbia to see the site of the first Cinco de Mayo.

Where should we stay?

Answer

I'm looking into having hotel room blocks in Sonora, but the Gunn Hotel is haunted, so that sounds like fun!

How formally should I dress?

Answer

Festive to semi-formal. Please note that the wedding chapel and reception hall are NOT connected, so you may want to bring a wrap and leave your stilettos at home. It's only a 100-yard walk from the chapel to the hall, so no hiking boots are necessary! The parking lot and some of the walkways between buildings are gravel, so please be careful.

Which airport is closest to Sonora?

Answer

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is closest, but Oakland (OAK) and San Jose (SJC) are also nearby. San Francisco (SFO) is the largest airport in the area, but your experience at the airport and in the city may not be pleasant.
