We met through OkCupid - we started talking on and off earlier in 2016, and I gave John my number in April. Our first text conversation was about marine iguanas. Our first date was on April 30th, 2016 - I went to John's apartment in Troy and we played video games. I brought over my Wii U and we played Smash Bros and Mario Kart. John was kicking my ass at Smash and I remember being really upset because he had never even played a Wii U before. Later on I introduced John to Bob's Burgers and that was our first cuddle time. I left later that night and our first kiss was like fireworks.
John proposed on our fourth anniversary. We were both feeling kinda down about our anniversary because it was in the beginning of the pandemic, so we couldn't go to Frankenmuth like we usually do for our anniversary. Then, April 30th last year fell on a Thursday, and we both ended up working late. We had some plans to have a fancy dinner but John especially had to work late. So we decided to postpone, and this really bummed me out. But I insisted on giving him his gift - I put together a photo album of all the cards and notes I've wrote him over the years. John teared up a bit then went to his office, and came out with a small grey box. He asked me to marry him, saying he couldn't wait until the weekend to ask.
