Let's get married!

Gigi and David matched on Bumble in June 2020. Due to the pandemic, their first date was socially distanced and outdoors—a five-hour (not exaggerating!) stroll through the NC Museum of Art. Unintentionally (Gigi swears!), when they carpooled to Chipotle afterward, they spent so much time eating and talking that Gigi’s car got locked inside the museum parking lot. David graciously drove her 45 minutes home. Thankfully for Gigi, she was thoroughly enjoying the date and didn’t mind the extra time with David. Ever since that day, Gigi and David have been attached at the hip. Because of the pandemic, they were both very careful about who they spent time with—so they only spent time with each other. Their relationship blossomed quickly. In 2021, Gigi spent the summer in Washington, D.C., while David began medical school at ECU. They mastered long distance and kept their communication strong by writing each other daily emails about their days (easier to type on a computer—and more exciting than a text!). After Gigi graduated, she moved to Raleigh while David continued medical school in Greenville, NC. They spent countless hours driving back and forth between the two cities to see each other. In November 2024, David finally popped the question at the NC Museum of Art—yes, the same place as their first date! They celebrated afterward with friends and family at the Cloney house. It was one of the best days ever. David matched into his Pediatrics residency program in March 2025, graduated in May, and then he and Gigi embarked on the trip of a lifetime to Japan. Just 48 hours after returning from Japan, they moved from Raleigh, NC, to Greenville, SC. Now, Gigi and David are loving life together in their first apartment and absolutely adore Greenville. They can’t wait to start their life as a married couple and are so grateful to celebrate with you!
